The Great Pumpkin

We’re calling it the Great Pumpkin (thank you, Kim!). It’s starts off as a grapefruit-sized ball of chemo chemical attached to my port in my chest. I wear it for two days as the chemicals drip slowly into my body. When the ball is empty, I get it disconnected, and then I am free from chemicals for 12 days.

So far, the day after my first treatment is going well. No major side effects as of yet. Just a little fatigue and light-headedness. I know it will get worse as time passes, so I’m cherishing every non-horrible moment.

Onward.

Mike. You know if you keep writing – and expanding it – this “blog” is could really become very popular. It is really well written and you would have a great number of people rooting for you as well as people in similar situations having a “friend” who knows what they are going through, etc,etc

I keep thinking of jokes to make – you know how I love to say inappropriate things at inappropriate times but I’m coming up short. So instead of a joke, I’d like to say something inspirational and compassionate but surprise, surprise, I’m coming up short in that department, too. Just know that I’m rooting for you, Michael. Much love, Lisa

Hi Michael,
Thanks for sending me your blog! I think it’s so great you’re chronicling this terrible experience. The Great Pumpkin is the perfect name for that thing. Thanks for sharing all of this. It’s compelling to read about. I’m so sorry you are having to go through it.
